Recreational ax throwing spaces have been popping up across the Twin Cities. An activity historically reserved for frontiersmen and lumberjacks, ax throwing is now available to all. Getting the ax to stick in the target isn’t always easy, but at Bad Axe Throwing in Minneapolis, site lead Ollie and ax throwing coach Tomia will teach anyone who wants to learn.

“A big part of my practice is ritual — that we are not alone in spirit,” says Taja Will. “That our ancestors…are always with us.
Taja is a dancer, choreographer, performer, therapist, healing justice practitioner, and a 2021-22 Jermone Hill Fellow Artist. Their newest piece of choreographed work, a dance film called Líneas de Sangre, explores ceremony, ancestry, and queerness through movement.
Taja talks with KFAI’s Emily Krumberger about presence, ritual, healing, and access within the realms of dance and performance.
