KFAI grows connections and honors the diverse communities and special interest groups across the Twin Cities through 24-hour programming takeovers where the regularly scheduled program is paused for the week, and the host donates their timeslot to the featured community. KFAI staff and volunteer engineers provide production support to make the airwaves welcoming and accessible for all experience levels.
The 24-hour takeover also allows community members to participate in the radio-making process and experience the magic of terrestrial radio. When possible, we include mentors and engineers who identify with the featured community to participate in the event’s production because we know that representation matters.
Yearly observances include Black Histories/Black Futures Month (Feb.), International Womenās Day (March), the Metal Meltdown (May), Pride (June), Latine Day (Sept./Oct.), and Turtle Island + Indigenous Peopleās Day (Nov.)
As an event sponsor, you get the unique opportunity to connect with an audience of culturally, socially, or musically aligned people who appreciate knowing they have your support and want to learn about your services.
