Ron “Boogiemonster” Gerber hosted his first radio show in the summer of 1979, as a ten-year-old camper at Deer Mountain Day Camp in Pomona, NY. He worked in college radio in the late 1980s and dabbled in top 40 radio in the early 1990s, first as a board operator at 98PXY/Rochester, NY and later as an intern and morning-show character for 93.7 KRQ/Tucson. Ron started his long-running specialty show Crap From The Past in 1992 while in grad school in Rochester, NY. After numerous incarnations and stations, he eventually brought the show to KFAI/Minneapolis in 1997, where it still airs on Friday nights. Gaining notoriety in the streaming digital age, Crap From The Past has picked up affiliates all over the United States, New Zealand, Germany, England, Singapore, Australia, and Brazil.

Ron has a Ph.D. in Optics, and worked for a decade as an optical engineer in the fields of optical data storage and telecommunications. Ron has 22 issued U.S. Patents to his name. By day, Ron works as a Patent Agent at a fairly large Minneapolis law firm.

In 2017, Ron wrote a book about the show, titled Between The Songs: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Radio Magic, or: Stuff I Learned from Hosting Crap From The Past for Twenty-Five Years.

Ron also wrote a book about himself in 2012, titled Greatest Hits Vol. 1.
