11/29 Episode of Radio Pocho: Dedication to 1973

Tonight's episode of Radio Pocho will take us back in time to the year 1973. This year brings us the tail end of the Vietnam war, Richard Nixon's presidency, and widespread inflation across the world. Musical innovation tends to flourish under this kind of adversity.

1973 is the year that salsa in New York makes it's mark with albums by Willie Colon, Johnny Pacheco, Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda among others. This year also marks the beginning lovers rock in reggae as well as the politicization of soul music as witnessed on Stevie Wonder's album Innervision.

Some of the more memorable musical influences come from Rock n' Roll with albums by the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Paul McCartney & Wings.

Listen in tonight 12am-2am as we give you taste of 1973.
