Big goings on at the House today, Residents. We celebrate Booker T’s 65th birthday today with 90 minutes of his best sides for Stax – as a performer and as a songwriter. We then welcome HOTPANTS in to the studio for the second half of the show. Dance until 9am and then plan to catch their set this Saturday at Club Jager!
This week’s opening oldies set mutates into a tribute to Ringo (both Starr AND Shiina!) with the Skatalites and TSPO providing musical backing. Sherwood spins 2 more Shiina tunes, Mastretta’s lo-o-o-ongie First Exit, and heads for Adelaide by way of Bill Evans and Eddie Costa. Then a 4(+1) at 4 featuring 1st-generation ska from outside Jamaica… with Ska in both the lyrics and song title! Lollipop Week 35 is sung by German Heidi Bachert.
