Tonight’s program features an interview with Kiratiana Freelon, a young author who has written a “Travel Guide to Black Paris” with various, self-guided walking tours, both historical and modern, with references to present-day African and Carribbean restaurants and black neighborhoods.

Gregory Crouch calls in to talk about his new book, China’s Wings: War Intrigue, Romance, and Adventure in the Middle Kingdom During the Golden Age of Flight. His work has appeared in The Atlantic, National Geographic (“Stone Cold Ascent,” 3/00, and “Caves of Oman,” 4/03), Outside, National Geographic Adventure, American History, and many others. His book, Enduring Patagonia (Random House, 2001), was chosen for the Barnes & Noble “Discover Great New Writers” program.

We also speak with acclaimed author Heid Erdrich about her new collection of poetry, Cell Traffic. A recipient of Minnesota State Arts Board fellowships, awards from The Loft Literary Center, the Archibald Bush Foundation and elsewhere, she has published three previous collections, including National Monuments and The Mother’s Tongue. She is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibway.
