Variations on a Theme

Variations on a Theme is the show that explores a topic using music and literature from today and days long past.

The music tends to focus on singer-songwriter style folk artists, but is a show-without-boundaries – often including hip-hop, Motown, classical, electronic, local and world music, and others. VoaT also showcases modern and ancient poetry from around the world, classic literature, and expressions of wit from all walks of life. All with the intent of exploring how we as humans view the world.

Topics will be as heavy as "War" and as light as a "Breath", as mysterious as "Dreams" and as playful as "Cats” and “Dogs." They will also change like the tide - each week a different topic. Join host, Shanna Gratton (Ian Thompson-emeritus), and their collections of music, poetry, quotations, and literature on Variations on a Theme, Sundays at 10:30 pm on KFAI.
