It turned out to be a slightly trumpet-centric show today, with music from Miles, Chet Baker, Lee Morgan (45 of the week), Louis Armstrong (w/Ellington) and the Twin Cities own Steve Kenny (as part of the Illicit Sextet). I also played music from don Byron, Donald Harrison, Charles Mingus, the Rebirth Brass Band, Rene Marie, King Pleasure, Bill Frisell, and Les McCann. Of special note is the vocal version of Take 5, by Brubeck and Carmen McCrae, with a newly recorded bossa nova backing recorded in Rio.
