Poquito y Bueno: A Short and Sweet Flamenco Show

KFAI is proud to present Poquito y Bueno, the first worldwide English-language flamenco webcast! This short and sweet half-hour weekly program presents a panoply of flamenco music ranging from the first to the very latest recordings. Our shows are spiked with exclusive interviews of contemporary performers - including both the famous and the obscure, and we also feature a local (and when appropriate, international) performance and events calendar. Tune-in and tune-up your aficionado rating!

JUNE 26 SHOW - More lush and lyrical Milongas and Vidalitas, both old-style and new-style, are featured on this week's show, including one by José Salinas who was just here with Zorongo in April.

JULY 3 SHOW - Tune in to find out a little know secret about the palo Colombianas, as well as to enjoy listening to a 4-pack of them, featuring both historic. modern, and even local versions.

JULY 10 SHOW - Kristina does a little catching up from the past two weeks on this show, then throws in a couple of rumbas, a jazzy piano version of La Tarara and a flamenco guitar version of an Albeniz piano piece - it's a grab-bag show!

ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, JULY 11 & 12, PROMPTLY AT 7pm, ANDA FLAMENCO WILL OPEN "Dances at the Lakes" AT THE FOUNTAIN AT THE LAKE HARRIET ROSE GARDEN with a new 10 minute pastiche created for this venue. "Dances at the Lakes" features a series of dances presented annually in the Rose Garden by The Christopher Watson Dance Company.

ON SUNDAY JULY 13, GUITARIST TONY HAUSER WILL BE THE FEATURED PERFORMER AT THE ZORONGO FLAMENCO STUDIO SUNDAY SERIES. Tony will be playing his guitar arrangements of Isaac Albeniz's piano works, and he will be joined by David Gregory on guitar and cajon for Tony's own flamenco compositions. You may pay at the door, but seating is limited. To reserve seating, please call 612.234.1653.
