Poquito y Bueno: A Short and Sweet Flamenco Show
KFAI is proud to present Poquito y Bueno, the first worldwide English-language flamenco webcast! This short and sweet half-hour weekly program presents a panoply of flamenco music ranging from the first to the very latest recordings. Our shows are spiked with exclusive interviews of contemporary performers - including both the famous and the obscure, and we also feature a local (and when appropriate, international) performance and events calendar. Tune-in and tune-up your aficionado rating!
JANUARY 30 - Kristina reaches into the archives and comes up with the first show of Poquito y Bueno, filled with alegrias and a charming interview with Timo Lozano.
FEBRUARY 6 - Kristina plays a show from the archives that explores the differences between fandangos grandes, malagueñas, and granainas.
FEBRUARY 13 - Kristina is in Spain, and from the archives she plays love songs from the 2013 Valentine's Day show.
FEBRUARY 20 - It's an archived show of Kristina's first flamenco loves - the "tunes" she imprinted on in the late 80's when she began her flamenco studies.
FEBRUARY 27 - One more show from the archives dedicated to Kristina's favorite flamenco "Golden Oldies."
MARCH 6 - This is a contemplative show of soleares and slow soleares por bulerías from May of 2013.
MARCH 13 - Kristina's back from Spain, flamenco classes begin again, and this is show dedicated to the palo of tientos to awaken sleeping memories of choreographies everyone was working so hard on a mere month ago. This show is from the archives of November 2013 and features a snippet of conversation with Melinda Hedgecorth.
