This program includes music from Portugal (José Afonso and some Fados), music from Mexico (Susana Harp, Eugenia Leon and Chavela Vargas, among others) and a homage to Zeferino Nandayapa, the great Marimbist who passed away last December 28. The literature segment presents La venganza de “Carlos Mango”, by the Mexican author Francisco Rojas González.

This program presents Carmen Miranda, Virginia Rodrigues and Mônica Salmaso (from Brazil), Rana Santacruz and Rodrigo y Gabriela (from Mexico) and Alfredo Zitarrosa from Uruguay. It also includes a small homage to the Argentinean María Elena Walsh. The literature segment presents “Diles que no me maten”, by Juan Rulfo.

The first hour of this program presents music from Argentina, Cuba and Haiti, as well as a critical/musical approximation to María Magdalena. The music and literature segments of the second hour are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of José María Arguedas, the Peruvian writer and anthropologist (1911-1969).

The second hour includes Sones Jarochos and music from Oaxaca, Mexico. The literature segment presents two texts by the Mexican writer Vicente Quirarte.
