Big ‘ol Freewheelin’ thanks go out to Ron Thums for hanging out this afternoon on the pledge drive show. Ron, half of team Ron & Jean, may be familiar to you from the show that they presented on KFAI “Radio Rumpus Room”. These days, if you’re available on Tuesday mornings, tune in to “The Morning Blend” as Ron & Jean provide a little musical backdrop to Dale Connelly’s magazine-style morning show. Thanks to everyone who pledged this afternoon. If you want to see the playlist for the show, click “Episode Details”. You’ll also be able to the archive of the show from that location.
New Tom Jones singing “Just Dropped In”. A few tracks from the new 7-disc Duane Allman retrospective. Dr. John, Kinks, Todd Snider, Los Zafiros, James McMurtry, Blue Rodeo, Flo & Eddie, Peter Green & Jeremy Spencer’s Fleetwood Mac, Marshall Tucker….typical Freewheelin’ fare for this cloudy Wednesday. Ray Booneville called in from Austin, Tx. for a chat. Tea Simpson of L’Assassins came in with their new release. Played a few tracks by them. Had a musical tribute to Richie Havens, who passed away this week. Played some songs by Todd Snider and gave away tix to his concert with Jason Isbell. Went back to 1973 for a cool song by Canadian slide singer writer Ellen McIlwane. A little of this, a little of that. Typical Freewheelin’. If you want to see the entire playlist, just click “Episode Details” and you can check it out. You’ll be able to listen to the archive of the show from there.
