Played a bunch of music by the great Pinetop Perkins, who passed away yesterday at the age of 97.

New releases include Ha Ha Tonka, Hot Tuna, Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers, Mason Porter, and Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis featuring Norah Jones.

We also had a phone interview with Paul Metsa. Paul, Angie and I are putting together a benefit show for Japanese Earthquake relief. It’ll be happing Monday and Tuesday, March 28 and 29 at Rudolph’s BBQ in Minneapolis.

Thanks to everyone who made a PLEDGE today. If you’d like to support the station and the show, just click over the the pledge button on the KFAI homepage and indicate your pledge is for Freewheelin’. Although we didn’t reach our goal for the show, we still have time to get there.

Thanks to KFAI’s Angie Pykonen and David Cummings for helping with the pledge rap today. Also, a big tip of the cap to our producer Bev Hlavac and all the wonderful volunteers who came in to answer the phones.

It was a weird day, with lots of equipment failures. At one point, I was bouncing around from studio to studio while the engineers were trying to get the gear to work properly. Even one of the CD players gave me trouble when I played a Captain Beefheart song. This is one of the reasons why listener support is so important…the keep the equipment working!

Most of the songs I played were from my private collection. We did, however, play another advance track from the new one by Hot Tuna. Very tasty.
