May 2012 Sound Affects: A Radio Playground Archives

Brad Lansky and the 4D-Verse, Part 2 – from Protophonic.net in South Africa. We conclude the story begun last week, and we offer up a Cerebus the Aardvark comic, performed by Shockwave.

The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, a radio broadcast by the Lux Radio Theater in 1944 adapting the movie serial of ten years earlier. Featuring an all star cast including Mickey Rooney as Luke, Humphrey Bogart as Han Solo, and Katherine Hepburn as Princess Leia Organa. Not included in the regular Lux archives generally available.

Ghost of a Chance, from 19 Nocturne Boulevard, in which a girl strives to keep her household intact so she won’t be hauled off to any Child Services institution. She’s hiring someone to play her father for the authorities. Oh, she still has the assistance of her father and her grandparents, it’s just that they aren’t alive, which makes it tough to show them off. And “The Ship That Sued”, from Curious Echo, part of the series about Frank Gadsden: Personal Injury Lawyer of the Future.

Drummer’s Dome, from the Great Northern Audio Theatre. An old hippie builds his dream house, but discovers things about it that make him feel better than he has in years. And By the Light of the Silver, an early Firesign Theatre play that morphed significantly before it was released on an album. Silliness abounds, for all the people listening who are waiting for the storms to roll by.
