January 2016 Good 'N Country Archives

During today's show, we featured a tribute to Red Simpson, who passed away Friday January 8th at age 81. Included along with some of his recordings were songs he wrote and were covered by other artists, including Buck Owens and the Buckaroos who took Red's song "Sam's Place" to #1 in 1967.

During this week's show, we included a tribute to Curtis Potter, who passed away Saturday January 23rd at the age of 75 from pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Featured were some of his 1958 recordings for the Winston label out of Abilene, Texas-along with some other side from Step One Records and collaborations with Darrell McCall and Tony Booth. He was also with Hank Thompson's Brazos Valley Boys from 1959-1972. During that time with Mr. Thompson, he played fiddle, bass guitar and electric rhythm guitar.
