Today’s show is very special. We have lost one of our true musical heroes – the King of Rock n Soul – Solomon Burke. We dedicate the entire first hour of the program to Solomon’s recordings on the Atlantic label, 1960-1969. Special thanks to the good people at Rhino for supporting this tribute and for making these amazing records available for new listeners.
Another week, another hero lost. During the second hour of this edition of the Rockhouse we honor the memory of General Norman Johnson, who passed away a week ago. Johnson was the voice behind the Showmen’s anthem It Will Stand and also the early 70’s mega-hit by the Chairmen Of The Board, Give Me Just A Little More Time. In addition he was a masterful songwriter. We listen to music from all these phases of his career.
