Guest Ray Tricomo speaks of early (17th cent.)visitors and theirs relationships with indigenous peoples of North America. Ray later speaks of a dear friend, a Frenchman who immersed himself in the culture of SW American native culture who was accepted as one of their own. The music played comes from old and new artists from France and French-speaking countries.

Tonight’s program is a mix of old and new music from France and French-speaking countries. We will be playing an excerpt from the Minnesota Opera’s newly-commissioned works, Silent Night. The opera is in English, French and German, the language of the soldiers. The story is true and is about the 1914 Christmas Eve truce, when soldiers of both sides laid down their weapons.

Tonight’s program features Advent music from the monks of Keur Moussa Abbey in Senegal. A short story follows about Advent in several areas of France.

New and old music in French follows from RFI (Radio France Internationale) with a common theme: l’Attente Amoureuse, or Lovers’ Wait. The program continues with selections from a variety of artists, both old and new.


Chef Pierre Rabbia of the Cordon Bleu culinary school is our guest this evening. He will speak of French food and preparation. He will also speak of the new restaurant, Technique, which opened this fall to the public. Listeners can eat either lunch or dinner of excellent quality prepared by the students in the French way.

From 9:00-10:00 PM, the program continues with all music in an eclectic French mix.
