Another week with so many great new dubwise releases that they filled most of Dr. StrangeDub’s half of the program. First up was the crucial, pure roots release “Send em to Outer Space” from Yabass & Friends (coming out June 16). This album will be released on the new Atomic Sounds label – a collaborative effort of Super DJ Pat Brilman (aka ‘DJ Atomic Brillie’) and Gibsy Rhodes, founder of the SpringlineJamaica label. This was followed by the excellent “Globalistic” album by HiFi Champion (on Rebel B Records); the bouncy “Watch How You Walk” single (with a very serious message) from Jah Wobble & PJ Higgins (on Sonar Kollectiv); and the tasty new “Rubadub Musik EP” from The Ital Ensemble ft. Skarra Mucci (on AudioKnot). After this, the good doctor played a couple songs from string virtuoso David Lindley – recorded nearly 30 years apart – to celebrate his recent show at the great Cedar Cultural Center. Other choice new releases included the single “The Science of Agriculture” from Ras Takura & Mutabaruka (from the upcoming “Food War” album); the “Irie Vibe EP” from Uptown Rebel ft. Leah Rosier (on ODG); “Specialist presents Alborosie & friends” (VPAL); and “Dubmatix In Dub” (Echo Beach). And yet more new items from Dublaw, NASA, and Hollie Cook. Filling out the show with classic tracks and more from Sly Dunbar, Scientist, UB40, Linton Kwesi Johnson & Dennis “Blackbeard” Bovell, Pablo Gad, Tricky (remixing Billie Holliday), E.R.S., Sir Coxson Sound, Brain Damage meets Vibronics, Fela Kuti, and others…
