5 new arrivals launch this week’s Chamber… releases from Gaudi, Tsunami Wazahari, The Dubb Style, Cas Haley and Jaqee, to be exact. Calma Dub, Mystika Tribe and Dubmatix also turn up with new tracks later on, as do a couple of fresh Mutant Frogs hatchlings from the mind (and musical equipment) of DJ Baby Swiss.. But the real highlight this week was part 1 of “Around the World in 20+ Dubs” special – where StrangeDub joined TurnTableTerrorist (Terry C) on “Echo Beach” for the 7th annual dubwise trip. After Strangedub exited stage left, Swiss “poured dubbles” by Little Tempo, Tommy McCook and Channel U (though by the end Little Tempo turned into a triple) and filled in the gaps with tunes from The Disciples, Blackbeard, Junk Waffel, Mike Mainieri and Shiina Ringo, among others…

A roadtrip-zonked Dr. Strangedub sat this one out and handed the reins of The Echo Chamber over to the Swissmeister this week.Yeah, this playlist looks short, but that’s ‘cuz it’s got some really lo-o-o-ong tunes in it, including the 13+min. stretcher “Ethiopia/The Lower Ground” from Bill Laswell’s “Book of Exit: Dub Chamber 4” as well as some epic Orb, and reggae discomix showcase business from both Joe Gibbs and Greensleeves. Add in a couple of choice Waveform goodies from International Observer and Warp Technique, plus some live on-air mixology layering rhythmic Kev Hopper over some quite ambient Ben Neill for a good 4+min. (leading into the aforementioned Warp Technique) and a couple of newly-hatched Froggies made their EC debut, including “The Eye of Cyclophibius” and the Eastern-flavored ska thing that wrapped up the show. And that, dubheads, is the lo-o-o-ong and short of it. The Doc’ll be back next week.

After taking a week off, Dr. StrangeDub returned to the airwaves with a ton of new music. Kicked off the fun with the excellent Dubmatix “Rebel Massive” album, and followed this with the new Dubology “Dub Experiments” album. From there we moved into the new Tribe Called Red “Nation II Nation” album; Taj Weekes & Adowa’s new “Pariah In Transit “ live album (on Jatta); Longman’s new “Akhenaten’s Dream”; Calma Dub’s “Tango Jango EP” (on Ape Choons) ; the great new “Signs & Wonders In Dub” from Dub Club (Tom Chasteen & Tippa Lee) on Stones Throw; and the new “Freedom Train” single from Victor Essiet & the Mandators. Also tonight was the debut of “The Eye of Cyclophibius” and “That was Now; This is Then” from the Mutant Frogs. In the middle of the show we ran part 2 of this year’s “Around the World in 20+ Dubs” special – where StrangeDub joined TurnTableTerrorist (Terry C) on “Echo Beach” for the 7th annual dubwise trip. And this was just the beginning… Also tonight: Indigenous Resistance ft. Jimmy Dick, Black Roots, Jungle Hammer, Marcia Aitken & Trinity, Dub Caravan meets Hornsman Coyote, Augustus Pablo/King Tubby, Ernest Ranglin, The English Beat, and much more…
