Another huge night in the Echo Chamber. Starting off with a great new release by The Breadwinners on the King Spinna label. Also new tonight: a tasty new EP from M.A.K.U Soundsystem “A Very Funky Christmas” from Redtenbacher’s Funkestra; and the “Desierto” EP from U-Niko (on Ape Choons). Tonight we also did a Green Queen Records set – to celebrate their 5th anniversary – which included Weirdub, Dr. Cat, Dub Terminator, Polcari, DJ Pony, and Diaspora. More new sounds from the Soothsayers, Bass Culture Players, Lo’Jo, Sangue Bom, Tack>>Head, Yabby You (from the archives), Cineplexx, and All India Radio.
The great music keeps on coming… Tonight was the debut of these 3 excellent releases: Super Hi-Fi’s “Dub to the Bone” album (on Electric Cowbell); Bandulu Dub’s Hyder Flares EP (on Original Dub Gathering); and Ondatropica’s self-titled deluxe double-CD (on Soundway). The good doctor celebrated the recent avalanche of great Latin releases with a half-hour set that included Ondatropica, Batida, M.A.K.U. Soundsystem, The Peronists, Quantic presenta Flowering Inferno, and Mariachi el Bronx (Super Guachin Remix). More recent releases from The Breadwinners, Adrian Sherwood, Subactive Soundsystem, Victor Rice, Prince Fatty, Beres Hammond, Mystical Weapons, Citizen Sound, Plenn, and Rod Anton & the Ligerians.
A little bit of everything tonight: new dubs from the likes of Mighty Dub Katz, Bandulu Dub, and MakaRon; a Bost & Bim ska remix of Adele; a bit of Christmas in a reggae stylee; and a tribute to the late Ravi Shankar. More new dubs/remixes tonight from Tokyo Tower, Gilles Peterson, and Ticklah. And still more new music from Dubtonic Kru, Anuhea & Tarrus Riley, Dread Daze, Sammy Gold, Joseph’s Bones (Jason Levis), Super Hi-Fi, Redtenbacher’s Funkestra, The Breadwinners, Felipe Lopez, and David Powell.
