May 2012 ECHO CHAMBER Archives

Short show tonight – as both of your faithful Echo Chamber co-sidekicks were caught nappin’…but Swiss got the party started at 2:30 with Dub Qawwali, Jeck Pilpil & Peacepipe, and Dubblestandart. From there we moved into the new “Meditation” release from the Nazarenes B.B. Seaton’s new cover of “Come See About Me” on Give Thanks Records; and Mista Majah P’s new “Karma” single. On top of this were new vibes from: Junior Toots, Webcam Hi-Fi, Gene Clemetson, Gentlemen’s Dub Club, Kush Arora, Sunmonx, Nneka, Prince Fatty meets Mutant Hi-Fi, Khayo Ben Yameen, and Céu.

Tonight the Echo Chamber presented part 1 of “Around the World in 20+ Dubs”, the 6th annual special which originally aired on Echo Beach on 4/27 (WLUW-FM, Chicago). Once again Dr. StrangeDub joined the TurnTableTerrorist (Terry C) for the dubwise journey. But, before embarking on ATWD #6, the good doctor filled the first hour with some excellent new releases from Citizen Sound, Thousand Yard Prayer, Bandulu Dub, DuBoLoGy, Nazarenes, Dub Rifles, the ACEtone Studio “Eat Cookie Dub” mix of Love Avalanche’s “More Love Less Corruption” track, and the official re-release of “Riddim Full A Culture” compilation from Springline Records (in association with the Dubark.com community web site). Also in the mix: 10 Ft. Ganja Plant, Scientist, Taj Weekes & Adowa, the neyBuzz, Dubmatix, Winston Heywood, and more… Finally, in memory of the late Lloyd Brevett, we included a couple Skatalites tracks.

Another Echo Chamber chalked full with new dubwise material. Starting out with the new “Kung Fu Know How EP” from Mungo’s Hi-Fi, and featuring Solo Banton. This was followed up by the new “Survive” release from Garrison Hawk (with Sly & Robbie) on Bill Laswell’s M.O.D. Technologies label; the Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars’ new “Radio Salone” (on Cumbancha); and Mickey Hart’s latest “Mysterium Tremendum” (on his own 360 Productions). Also more new material from I-lodica, Makina (Bigote remix), 9Tomorrows (feat. Beres Hammond), Nazarenes, Blundetto, VS, Cutty Ranks, Brownout, and Pale Rider, plus the ACEtone Studio remix from the “More Love, Less Corruption Remixes” EP from LoveAvalanche. On top of this we did a Skatalites set in memory of the late Lloyd Brevett, and rounded out the show with music from Smadj, Jackie Mittoo, Count Ossie, Tommy McCook, Holger Czukay vs. Dr. Walker, Tsunami Wazahari, and more…
