August 2015 Rhythm and Grooves Archives

Today's music included a number of tunes performed by New Orleans musicians, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. I played songs by the New Orleans Legacy Ensemble, Terrence Blanchard, Allen Toussaint, and James Andrews, as well as music from Duke Ellington, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Charlie Dennard, Adam Booker, Clifford Brown and Max Roach, and the Manhattan Transfer. Today's centennial celebration was Willow Weep for Me by Frank Sinatra, recorded live in Australia in 1959.
