October 2013 Rhythm and Grooves Archives

It was my one and only show during the Fall Pledge Drive, and Pippi Ardennia came by to talk about her new CD and even improvise a little bit of a sung “ask.” I played older music from Rueben Wilson, Stanley Turrentine, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, and Lou Donaldson; \new music from Adam Brenner, Pippi Ardennia, Foreign Motion, and Chaise Lounge. The 45 of the week was Someone, by Murray McEachron, an EP.

Quite a bit of older music today, starting with Jimmy McGriff, Tadd Dameron, Count Basie, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, and Eric Dolphy. A few newer performances from Joe Lovano, Pete Whitman’s X-Tet, and Lynne Arriale. The 45 of the week was Thou Swell, from a late 50s EP by Kai Winding and JJ Johnson.
