Mario Carrington, a supporter of KFAI and the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education, was my guest today, bringing in his own set of terrific music, with an emphasis on piano players, including Bill Evans, Ahmad Jamal, Horace Sliver, Art Tatum, and others.
Pianist Jeremy Siskind came by, along with vocalist Nancy Harms and sax player Lucas Pino. They are touring in support of Finger-Songwriter, Siskind’s new CD. During our interview I played three cuts from the CD. I also played music by Carmen Intorre Jr., Cory Wong, Body Omara, the Jazz Soul Seven, and the 45 of the week: Canadian Sunset by Gene Ammons.
