September 2014 Archives

Tons of new releases are coming out this Labor Day week—we heard from two of them: The Rentals "Lost in Alphaville" and Woodshop "Beardstar." We also heard new Bebel Gilberto, Robyn Hitchcock, Me'shell NdegeOcello, Laroux and new local music from The Pistol Whippin' Party Penguins and the man in pink Nigel Egg. We were all over the place in a nice flow in between, as you'll see in the rest of the tracklist. Thanks for checking it out!

We heard new music this morning from Ryan Adams, William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up and the fabulous new project from Dan "The Automator" Nakamura with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Got a Girl. Loving that one. Check the playlist for all the other tracks that got your Monday off on the good foot.

Big thanks to Caroline Smith for coming in this morning and sharing a lot of music she's excited about! She's got a great project with Lizzo and they're doing two shows at First Avenue the last weekend of September to benefit the Women's Foundation. Caroline said she's gotten so much from the Twin Cities that she wants to give back. She's not even 30 yet! What an awesome perspective at a time when most of us are just learning about give-and-take in the world.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who supported KFAI's fall pledge drive during PWB—it means a lot! This was the last official pledge drive for PWB and the love came through the airwaves, the phone room, and I hope into your ears as you got on with your Monday morning. Special thanks to David Cummings of Rockin' in Rhythm for joining me this morning!

This was my last official PWB although I'll be on one more Monday 10am – 12pm—don't ask how that happened but we had a ton of fun with requests and great music we've shared over the years. And we'll have a ton of fun one more Monday together. Check the playlist for what we heard this last Monday in September!
