May 2013 Pam Without Boundaries Archives

We welcomed Taylor Robert—whom you may also know as Taylor Baggott—to the studio this morning to talk about his new album and release party at Hell’s Kitchen on Saturday, May 11th. Taylor has been on the music scene in the Twin Cities for more than 5 years, releasing his first full-length in 2009. In that time, he’s stuck to a sound he now calls “roll n’ soul,” although he went through a few incarnations at the suggestion of experienced friends to get to this point. We’ll keep in touch with Taylor Robert on PWB. We also heard new music from AM & Shawn Lee, Joshua Redman and local band Chicane Theory. Check the playlist for more!

Fun morning of new music: James Cotton, Femi Kuti, Son Volt, AM & Shawn Lee covering Joe Jackson, and a new project from Sara Pajunen, whom you know as half of Kaivama. Sara got together with some other musicians—jazz and world music players including a top local accordionist—and created Tango Pohjan Tahden. She’ll be our guest on PWB Monday, May 20th, to talk about the project and new music from Kaivama. Check out finntango.com for more information!

We enjoyed some beautiful Finnish tango this morning with Sara Pajunen as our guest in the 11:00 hour. One of her projects, Tango Pohjan Tahden, will celebrate the release of a CD on Thursday, May 30th, at the American Swedish Institute. She also spoke about an upcoming concert with her Finnish-American roots duo, Kaivama, playing at The Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, June 9th.

Thank you to Thursday Morning Blend music host Mark Koerner for hosting the show this morning! He took us on a jazzy route through African and Cuban territory, only to land us back at Paul Westerberg’s doorstep. I would expect nothing less! Follow his path on the playlist and be sure to make Mark part of your Thursday morning routine on The Morning Blend, 6am – 8am!
