We started the morning hearing Violent Femmes for our friends in WI, as they celebrated a Super Bowl win. Then Flogging Molly came in, and it was all music from all over the place then on. New stuff from Teddy Thompson, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and a really great Ghanaian group, K. Frimpong His Cubano Fiestas. Thanks to Secret Stash records, this album has been released to our American ears, in partnership with Continental Records. There was a fun afrobeat night at Cause all about it. Let’s hope there are more new old sounds where that came from.

The 9th Annual Rejection Day Counter-Valentine’s Day special fell on actual Valentine’s Day this year, and didn’t change a thing. We still heard plenty of sad songs of unrequited love, angry songs of revenge, and other forms of rejection, including rejection of country featured on PJ Harvey’s new album, Let England Shake. Thanks to Liberty Finch for joining me this morning!

New music this morning from Lykki Li, The Cave Singers, and Banjo or Freakout. We had an extra copy of Banjo or Freakout at the station, too, so fabulous Chuck got to have that one for his very own. More giveaways in coming weeks.
