David Unowsky of Subtext Books joins us to speak with Bob Gilbert about his new novel The Shady Elders of Zion, a comedic Minnesota ghost story. He is also the author of Mintwood Place, a novel of romantic suspense.

We discuss the culinary arts. First up, we speak with Myra Kornfeld and Stephen Massimilla about their new book Cooking with the Muse, which not only offers 150 international recipes, but also contains a plenitude of imaginative poetry about food along with enlightening essays and culinary and historical notes. Myra Kornfeld has written three previous cookbooks and teaches nutrition.

We speak with Jay Parini about his newly released volume of poems, New and Collected Poems, 1975-2015. He is also the author of The Last Station, made into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer, as well as many other novels and biographies, including his most recent, Empire of Self: A Life of Gore Vidal.

We are preempted for a special broadcast from the Minnesota History Center – a concert acknowledging the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
