5/7/2012 Pam Without Boundaries

New music from Alex Cuba and Erik Brandt today. Alex Cuba's "Ruido en el Sistema" has some of the Latin rhythms we've heard in his first two records, he also branches out into rock territory, making this new album rather schizophrenic. Erik Brandt doesn't mind me saying his new album has more pop melodies than his other solo records. He still has some great Americana-style darker tunes, but there was a clear plan on his part to include a couple lighter songs with catchy melodies which stand up against the bubbliest Beatles song. The show started out with the Beastie Boys single "Alive," an anthem of equality released in 2000 and still very important to hear today. It represents Adam Yauch to me. RIP MCA.
