An organization called Occupy Minnesota has promoted a demonstration and rally in downtown Minneapolis that began this morning at 9. The stated intention on the organization’s website is to “stand in solidarity” with those staging a similar demonstration on New York’s Wall Street.
KFAI’s Michelle Alimoradi was there, and she spoke with Bob Hines during the KFAI Weekly News.

Nick Coleman, Journalist, Presented On KFAI's Speakers Series

Nick ColemanNick Coleman On Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 7pm, KFAI will present award-winning Minnesota journalist and newspaper columnist Nick Coleman at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 Third Ave. S., Minneapolis. Nick Coleman has covered politics, government, media and business, Native American issues, war and peace in Northern Ireland, published more than 3,000 columns, produced approximately 300 TV commentaries, and hosted two radio talk shows. See KFAI at Three Events This Weekend

If you are at any of these events, stop by and say "hi!"

  • Friday, August 14th, Midway Stadium for the Saint Paul Saints Game! Game time is at 7:05pm. KFAI will be there for pre-game fun!
  • Saturday, August 15th, the Square Lake Film & Music Festival. Local bands join local filmmmakers in this talented showcase. The International Gamelan Novelty Orchestra will perform, too!
  • Sunday, August 16th, the Como Zoo and Conservatory's Japanses Lantern Lighting Festival. Join KFAI starting at 3pm for family-friendly fun, culminating at dusk with the lighting of the lanterns.
