Standing On The Bones of Our Ancestors: Exploring The Role of The Queer Tribal Elder

Standing on the Bones of Our Ancestors:http://www.StandingOnTheBones.com
is intended for GLBTQ People of all ages in the interest of honoring those who have come before us, promoting critical thinking and generating intergenerational dialogue around issues of spirituality and ageing to advance social change for a more physically healthy, politically aware, creatively alive, and spiritually awake Queer Community. It is also aimed at non GLBTQ People in the interest of challenging hetero-centric beliefs about what it means to be a member of our disenfranchised population.

Steven Solberg began in film in the heyday of San Francisco’s 1970s counterculture, hot on the glittering high heels of Stonewall. He co-wrote, collaborated on the artistic direction, and co-starred in the legendary 1970 counter-culture surrealist film, Luminous Procuress directed by Steven Arnold and went on to work with many of the leading artists and filmmakers of the avant garde movement.

As part of the Spirit in the House showcase, Steven will present a 21-Minute Preview of his feature length documentary in progress that illuminates the altruistic and spiritual dimensions of what it means to be GLBTQ and the vital need for elders to emerge in our communities.

This comedy is guaranteed to tickle funny bones from the outset when a tour guide can't take it any more and has a breakdown while her bus is caught in New York City traffic with a load of non English speaking tourists from South Yemen. Susan runs from the bus, gun in hand, and hails a cab. Her family, who hasn't heard from her in ten years, receives a cryptic telegram: Dire straights. Must lie low. Driving in on Saturday.
The Mihalovic sisters arrive for a party, and each tracks in family skeletons along with the rain. Here comes Carol with the drinking problem, Anne with the bad marriage, Brenda with the lesbian lover, Susan with the outstanding arrest warrant.
