KFAI proudly sponsors Willie Watson at the Cedar Cultural Center on Thursday, October 27.
After more than ten years with Old Crow Medicine Show, singer/guitarist/banjoist Willie Watson goes back to the well with his debut solo release, Folk Singer Vol. 1, produced by David Rawlings.
Reaching back for inspiration to such artists as Utah Phillips, Leadbelly, and even the 1930s folk-country crossover artist Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Willie reinterprets and gives new life to a vast catalog of traditional songs that fit seamlessly beside self-penned classics cut from the very same cloth, creating a rich new patchwork of Americana.
Indie harpist/singer-songwriter Mikaela Davis opens, with Alex Coté on drums and percussion, and Cian McCarthy on guitar, sitar, and keys.
More information is available at The Cedar Cultural Center.
