Feature Presentation - In celebration of the Year of Our Moonlanding 45, we bring you Adventures in Sound and Space, from NBC Radio. It was the pilot for a series that NBC wanted to launch in 1958, aimed at parents and their children. It has four chapters, each with a new bit of adventure for astronauts, featuring Col. Frank Erhardt, with Staats Cotsworth, Bob Hastings and Hal Cooper in the cast. Written by Charles E. Crumpacker, with music by Marty Gold, and on the RCA Victor label.
Selected Shorts - Also in outer space, we offer up an interview with George Tirebiter on Neptune All Night, at the event of the Voyager probes crossing the orbit of Neptune and passing into the greater galaxy. (Our thanks to Taylor Jessen for this rare bit of audio from 1989.) George will talk about the sci-fi movies he made in the 50s, and why there is one titled Nomads From Neptune. Then we'll play a scene from it, from the Great Northern Audio Theatre, part of an early Mark Time Radio Show called Coming Soon To A Galaxy Near You. Yes, in regard to George Leroy Tirebiter, these are all fictional movies, and we can play a scene from a film never made only through the Magic of Radio.
