1/22/2008 Dig Up The Roots

Dan Newton (Cafe Accordion Orchestra Cheap Suit Tributary) came in for the first part of the program with some sweet ol' music. Dan fronts many musical groups, with accordion and a never ending list of tunes that make the crooners swoon.

We then featured some newer and older fiddle tunes from the Carolina region - The Carolina Chocolate Drops were just here in MPLS the previous weekend and put on an amazing show. We heard from them and a side project called Sankofa Strings. We featured some great CDs like Folks, He Sure Do Pull Some Bow!; Jazz The World Forgot (vol 1 2) and ended with some Bulwayo Jazz from the early 1950's recorded in Zimbabwe, including a cover of Glenn Miller's 'In The Mood' sung in the Ndebele language.
