Eddie Condon was a high school kid in the 19-teens when he started playing jazz in Chicago. Along with Bix, he and 4 other youngsters took their sound to New York and changed the world.
Bunny Berigan had a sound coming out of his trumpet that had only one rival: Louis Armstrong. Bunny lived fast and hard and was dead at the age of 33.
We heard jam sessions from radio transcriptions; early session and arrangements from the likes of the Dorsey Brothers, Glenn Miller and a young sideman named Benny Goodman. Vocal stylings from the Boswell Sisters, Lee Wiley and Mildred Baily made this a pretty swingin' 2 hours.
