Pao Houa Her was born in Laos. She studied photography at Minneapolis College of Art and Design and received her BFA in 2009. She also attended Yale University School of Art where she received an MFA in 2012. She has been in multiple group shows in New York, Minnesota, and California. You can view her work at www.paohouaher.com

The exhibition will premier selected works from the artist's expansive series of photographs completed within the past year that documents the artist's family and wider examinations of Hmong culture, including international internet dating and portraits of an aging generation of Vietnam war era Hmong American veterans, who have created an ad hoc veterans structure to recognize and award their own ranks, medal status and hierarchy. The exhibition also includes self-portraits, still lives, action-based images and recent black and white landscapes from Pao Houa Her's 2012 travels in Laos, delivering an extraordinary diversity of interconnected and interwoven subjects and overall approach to image making.

The exhibition will remain on view through Saturday, May 4, 2013. Gallery hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5pm and by appointment for for school groups. For more information, please contact Franklin's Director, Tim Peterson at 612-872-7494 or tim@franklinartworks.org.
