Feature Presentation - A tale of suspense and terror from the Cape Cod Radio Mystery Theater. Five Fathom Rip is a story of the important fishing area called George's Bank, off the east coast of the U.S. and Canada.
Bobby Winslow is a hard-on-his-luck, independent Cape Cod fisherman who takes a calculated risk venturing out to the Five Fathom Rip area of George’s Bank. His luck holds until the tide turns…one man drowns in the net, another is sliced dead-on-the-spot when a winch cable snaps. These accidents prove anything but accidental. Now the suspense really begins!
Written and produced by Steven Oney. The production involved a real ship captain, Bobby Kohl, and a harrowing trip on board during a gale. Sound effects were recorded live during the storm.
Coming Attractions - The next two weeks we will be bringing you the World Premier of two pieces from the Spontoon Islands Radio. It's an island archipelago in the South Seas in 1938 which features cartoon funny animals and seaplanes. Some fine cartoonists contribute illustrations to the website from around the world. And E. O. Costello contributes radio plays that fit the theme and time period. We're going to offer up one from the Headline Chaser series, and one from Rosie's Place. Produced right here at the KFAI studios, with people we all know. Don't miss them, Feb. 17 and 24.
