The “Ooh” managed to include an accidentally-programmed four consecutive tunes with “ska” in the title, sandwiched between Roland Alphonso’s “If I Were a Bell” and Kingston All Stars’ “Happy Hunter”. Later, a couple of Lost Decade pre-2Tone tracks managed to work their way into the mix, leading into English Beat’s “Jeanette”. By the time we got to Sherwood’s, Mr. Funn had Azie Lawrence cued up, with Owen Bradley on deck, and a first-name-only known as Charlie waiting in the wings, with a cute-sounding Japanese King-label 45 called “Hawaii Cha Cha” cribbed from YouTube some years back. From there, it’s disappeared… and I currently can’t find it anywhere on the internet, other than my own playlists! Anybody out there know more about this guy? capt2much @ yahoo . com would love to find out! Also in the mix: surfing Finns Rocket Motors’ salute to Neil Armstrong, and a Shiina Ringo number that absolutely belongs on a killer James Bond soundtrack. When, oh, when will the Broccoli franchise discover this supernova? Now, the Home Stretch… including Toots Hibbert with No Doubt collaborating on Monkey Man, five 45s on the Ska Beat label, and The Slackers covering The Beatles, among other fine things, such as The Pepper Pots and Little Tempo, baby!.
