Please join Laura Waterman Wittstock on Wednesday, July 18th as she and Danielle Grant, discuss the year in Indian education in Minneapolis and plans for the 2012-2013 year. Ms Grant, Turtle Mountain Ojibwe, has been the Director of Indian Education for Minneapolis Public Schools since 2008. For the past 15 years, she has focused on ensuring the healthy development of children and youth, empowering communities of color, and working to create and sustain systems that serve the needs of children, youth and families. In her current and previous roles, she has built community collaborations designed to improve health, increase stability and ensure school success for Minneapolis children. As Director of Indian Education, Ms. Grant works to collaborate with schools, families and community to improve educational outcomes for American Indian students and to oversee and advance the school district’s partnerships with the American Indian community.
