7/4/2012 Freewheelin'

Hey Baby, it's the 4th of July.  So said Mr. Dave Alvin.  It was fun smearing the airwaves with tunes on this holiday edition of Freewheelin'.  And, it was great to hear from so many people who don't usually get to listen to the show live due to work, school, or other commitments.  Ah, holidays, I love the way they bring people together.

This week's edition of "We Hope You're Ready for Flo & Eddie" brought us the title track from their under-appreciated album "Battle of The Bands"; a patriotic ditty from Frank Zappa with Flo & Eddie on vocals entitled "Would You Go All The Way"; a Turtles a la Dave Clark 5 rave "Your Maw Said You Cried"; T-Rex's "Bang A Gong (Get It On)", with...you guessed it, Flo & Eddie helping Marc Bolan on vocals; and we closed it out with a track from "The History of Flo & Eddie & The Turtles" called "Getaway (Back To L.A.)".
