We speak with John Medeiros, a poet and memoirist whose work has appeared in numerous literary journals, about his newest collection of poetry called Couplets for a Shrinking World. His work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays of 2006. In the second half of the show, we chat with Cynthia Kraack about her newest novel, called Harvesting Ashwood, a sequel to Ashwood, both works of speculative fiction set in Minnesota in the 2030's following years economic depression and mismanaged food/farm policies. Her debut novel Minnesota Cold won the 2010 Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for Fiction. All three novels are published by North Star Press of St. Cloud.
