We speak with John Medeiros, a poet and memoirist whose work has appeared in numerous literary journals, about his newest collection of poetry called Couplets for a Shrinking World. His work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays of 2006. He is the curator of Queer Voices: A GLBT Reading Series, sponsored by Intermedia Arts and Hamline University. More information is at www. jmedeiros.net.
In the second half of the show, we chat with Cynthia Kraack about her newest novel, called Harvesting Ashwood, a sequel to Ashwood, both works of speculative fiction set in Minnesota in the 2030's following years economic depression and mismanaged food/farm policies. Her debut novel Minnesota Cold won the 2010 Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for Fiction. All three novels are published by North Star Press of St. Cloud.
