This week the Pop Shop celebrates Dick Clark, born Nov 30, 1929, in Mount Vernon, New York. We'll explore his musical legacy, from American Bandstand to Soul Unlimited and Where the Action Is. Clark was a pioneer in bringing pop music to television in the 1950s, and has built a media empire over the years that includes game shows (10,000 Pyramid) and other variety programs, as well as restaurants and theaters. To date, no one has figured out the secret to Clark's ever-youthful appearance, although the Simpsons speculate that he's really a robot.
