Mary Dibbern, chief of music at the Minnesota Opera, will be the special guest on tonight's program. (October 25 at 8:00 PM) Mary will speak of the creation of a new opera, Silent Night, which will debut soon at the Minnesota Opera Company at the Ordway in St. Paul.
The opera is based on a true event which took place during World War I. On Christmas Eve, the opposing sides: Germans under Kaiser Wilhelm vs. the English and Scottish armies, all laid down their weapons for that one night and there was a truce for that night.
Mary walked the battlefields near the French/Belgian border and brings music of the period for our listeners.
There will be tickets given to listeners who call in at the announced time.
