9/5/2007 Echo Chamber

After missing last week, Dr. StrangeDub came in this week with a boatload of new dubs... We had the brand new Drastics album Waiting (on _Jump_ _Up!_), the new Crucial Times EP from Subatomic Sound System, the new Best of the Joe Gibbs Years Dennis Brown retrospective (on _Shanachie_), the Pietasters All Day (on _Indication_), plus new albums from the Sultans of String, Nicky Hind, Kirk Davis, Zion Train, Twile, and Desdamona. On top of this we had new material (downloads and otherwise) from Cyberdread, Dub Is a Weapon, Notty D, King Kietu, Dubphil, and those Mutant Frogs. We also played some material that's been around awhile, but which just made it into Dr. StrangeDub's archive thanks to TurnTableTerrorist (from Echo Beach:http://www.wluw.org/programs/playlist.cfm?GetProgramID=233 in Chicago) -- some excellent Welsh dub from Llwybr Llaethog and Subtronix. Finally, the show was rounded out with tunes from Original Bass Foundation, Arrogalla, Don Judah, The Congos/Lee Perry, Jah Wobble, Gussie Clarke/King Tubby, Mira Calix, dZihan Kamien, Groundation, Barrington Levy Beenie Man (from the Ragga Jungle Dubs CD on _Greensleeves_), Bunny Wailer, Roots Radics/Jammy, Radikal Dub Collective, Future Pigeon, Pharoah Sanders, and Victor Rice. A very full...and heavy show indeed.
