10/20/2011 Rocket Ship Ska Trip

_10/20 in a nutshell..._
The 4@4 theme this week was bands we haven't played in a hell of a long time, followed up by an unrelated GotchaSKAvered_ we actually _do_ play Ernest Ranglin somewhat frequently around here, and he's got us SKAvered with his take on Ball of Fire, which started out life as the theme from British sci-fi telly's _Echo 4-2_ under the title Echo 4-2, and Hour 3 wound up with something brand new... Tomorrow as a matter of fact! Aboard the Voov, chiptuners YMCK explained their name, Capsule cooked up cosmic tones, Senor Coconut gave us sweet dreams, and Ken Nordine spun a yarn about a regular guy who, waking up at 2 every morning, gradually learned what time it is _everywhere._ The Ooh (Opening Oldies Hour) spun its typically well-rounded mix of ska and early rocksteady from both sides of the Atlantic, during which onetime real-life boxer Prince Buster fancifully documents a bout with rival record producer Arthur 'Duke' Reid, himself a former police officer. Freeze!
