Peruvian Guitarist Andres Prado will play his own music in view of his upcoming concert at The Dakota:http://www.dakotacooks.com jazz club on July 26.
Mr. Prado will also take us on a journey though Peru by sharing some rare recordings of various musical traditions of his native land, including the three main geographical regions, Costa, Sierra and Selva. The journey will start in la Costa (the Pacific coast), showcasing the strong Afro-Peruvian presence. Next, we'll travel up to la Sierra (the Andes mountains), where ancient and deeply spiritual traditions have survived the persecution of the conquistadors. Finally, we'll descend the western slopes of the andes to reach la Selva (the Amazon jungle) with sounds that will expand the horizon of our imagination.
Later, Andres Prado will be joined by percussionist Kevin Washington for a live duet of guitar and cajon.
