6/9/2011 African Rhythms

Orchestre Poly Rhytmo of Benin were responsible for some of the most electrifying sounds coming out of West Africa in the 1970s. The band has re-convened and recorded an excellent new album for Strut Records from which we heard a cut on this week's edition of African Rhythms, alongside new music from Simphiwe Dana from South Africa and Asa from Nigeria.
