of 5 Twin City record stores previewing the annual RECORD STORE DAY happenings.
From St Paul to Minnepolis, Dan and Travis visit Cheapo, Barely Brothers, Hymie’s Vintage Records,
Extreme Noise, Roadrunner and speak with their staff. They also share their purchases from each
store with YOU the listener!

On this weeks True Brit!, host Simon Husbands welcomes the US born writer and teacher, podcaster and musicologist, also resident of Japan, Mr.Tim Young!

 

This weeks True Brit! will feature MN singer songwriter, Tim Cheesebrow!

This Thursday, Fernando Meza, Chair of the Percussion program at the University of Minnesota, comes to Encuentro to share with us in a journey around the world through an instrument that lives in many cultures: the marimba.  This instrument has a rich history and tradition in many countries, in and beyond Latin America, and, in some, it has even been declared as the national instrument.

On two consecutive programs, Thursday, November 14, and Thursday, November 21, Encuentro will present “No basta rezar: La música de la Teología de la Liberación” (To pray is not enough: The music of Liberation Theology).  These programs will feature Latin American folk music and songs that have formed a sort of “songbook" for the movement in the Catholic church that has come to be known as "Liberation Theology”, and will play examples from a number of Latin American masses that capture this movement, with a special emphasis on the “Misa Campe
