Metro Council's Big LRT Decision

After months of studies and community input concerning the expansion of the metro light rail, or LRT, into the southwest suburbs, a final decision is expected from the Metropolitan Council today, April 9, 2014. In a preliminary vote last week, an advisory committee recommended the LRT be collocated with the freight train traffic through the Kenilworth Corridor in Minneapolis.  Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges cast a dissenting vote, maintaining the city’s preference for rerouting freight train traffic through St. Louis Park.  KFAI's Debra Strege has a report.
